What others are saying about White Shadow

I am writing this letter for Jason Gibbons and am more than happy to be used as a reference regarding his work performance as he recently worked for me at two of my company’s annual events we host every year during the NBA All-star Game weekend.  Jason was on-site with me to help me coordinate two very successful events SPP hosts each year, our Celebrity Bowl-a-thon and our Celebrity Golf Tournament recently held in the Phoenix market February 2009.

Both events included SPP consumer winners/guests, sponsors/SPP clients, local media and radio personnel, as well as local charities, UCP and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  Jason was there from start to finish and helped with all aspects of both events – set up, check-in, coordinating the event with media, professional athletes in attendance, break down, etc…. I was extremely pleased with his performance and wonderful work ethic. He is someone I would certainly look to work with again for any future SPP events coming to the Phoenix marketplace.

Sincerely,

If you are interested in exposing your students to a remarkable person they will immediately respect and always remember, consider inviting Jason Gibbons to your school or organization.

I have been a school counselor for twenty years and have seen many motivational speakers, but none that have the lasting impact of Jason Gibbons.

For three years Jason Gibbons has come on numerous occasions to the Woodside Elementary School in Topsham, Maine where I am a school counselor. He began by doing a whole school assembly for students K-5 in which he cleverly performed numerous basketball tricks and stunts to lively music, all the while weaving in positive messages about being a successful person, the importance of practice and working toward a goal.  The children were riveted the entire assembly and he immediately became an admired adult for the school community.  He has since done other assemblies, distributed White Shadow self control awards, and visited small groups of at risk students with his positive message. He is obviously committed to being a positive role model and relaying his message, “you can be successful,” to young people, and has been very generous with his time.

Shadow is one of the up-and-coming dudes that you have to reckon with because you can just sense how much he loves what he does—it emanates off his body and face when he has a ball in his hand! I had the great pleasure of performing with him in front of a very tough New York crowd, and everyone gave it up for him when we walked off. People in the crowd were even asking me, “Who was your man?” He’s the real deal, he’s on a mission, and has my 100% support.

Over the past five years I have had the opportunity to work with Jason Gibbons in a variety of settings. He has provided numerous workshops, student assemblies and basketball clinics for the students in our district, at all grade levels. Jason is a terrific role model who encourages students to believe in themselves and talks to them about the values we hope all of our children acquire. He has a gentle yet commanding presence with children and staff. His ability to get his message across is outstanding.

Our children are hungry for positive male role models and Jason provides children and schools with a fresh approach to a long standing need to inculcate a positive character education message that does not come across scripted or dogmatic.  Jason is a real treasure in our communities.

I can’t say enough about the good work he does and his integrity.  I hope he is able to provide other schools and communities the same level of connection he has given to the schools of RSU #1.

Sincerely,

Camp Susan Curtis

Jason Gibbons, aka The White Shadow, came to The Curtis Learning and Leadership Center in the summer of ’09. His message is powerful, and the kids at Camp Susan Curtis connected with him strongly. ”That guy is more fun than anything,” said one student-camper. “And he is our friend.”
